We are thrilled to announce that we have been selected as one of 10 finalists in the ITU Telecom World 2013 Young Innovators Competition. Broad Street Maps has been invited to present our idea and participate in the Young Innovators Accelerator Program and Master Class in Innovation at the United Nation’s 2013 ITU Telecom World Conference in Bangkok, November 19th through 22nd.
ITU (International Telecommunication Union) is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies – ICTs. They allocate global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develop the technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and strive to improve access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide. ITU is committed to connecting all the world's people – wherever they live and whatever their means.
“Through our work, we protect and support everyone's fundamental right to communicate,” (itu.ent)
The Young Innovators Competition is part of the ITU Telecom World 2013. The conference is a “platform for high-level debate, knowledge-sharing and networking for the global ICT community - essential to drive industry success and address critical world socio-economic challenges. It is the one conversation that matters, with the people that matter, with the power to make a real difference in the world.”
Young innovators can apply to the competition under one of six ITU global challenges. Broad Street Maps applied under the challenge to, “Protect sensitive personal data and inspire the creation of local digital content.”
We are so grateful for this amazing opportunity, and can't wait to connect with the other finalists and mentors!
